The Birth of AsomBroso Tequila
2000
Ricardo purchased a barrel of tequila in Mexico while on a family vacation. Only to find out that the product in the barrel was not 100% Blue Agave Tequila.
2002
Ricardo purchased and rebuilt Tequilera la Noria, S.A. de C.V. only to lose the distillery in a land dispute.
2002
AsomBroso gets its name from Ricardo’s wife Debby. AsomBroso means Amazing in spanish.
2003
Ricardo meets Enrique Fonseca and the magic of AsomBroso barrel resting begins at Tequileña, S.A. de C.V.
2004
AsomBroso introduces El Platino and Extra Anejo sold to only family, friends and a few accounts in Southern California
2005
Robb Report Magazine included the first release of AsomBroso Extra Anejo to its Best of the Best list.
2006
AsomBroso introduces the world’s first ever pink tequila La Rosa rested in Bordeaux Wine barrels
2007
AsomBroso El Platino wins Top Tequila and Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. AsomBroso Extra Anejo and La Rosa Reposado both won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. AsomBroso introduces the world’s first double barrel rested tequila “The Del Porto Extra Anejo” first rested in New French Oak then rested an additional year in Port Wine barrels.
October 2008
AsomBroso Tequila debuts the oldest rested Extra Anejo “The Vintage” featuring the Fiori di Como bottle at the Bellagio Las Vegas Hotel. Additionally, The Vintage makes the cover of Robb Report Magazine as The Best of the Best.
2009
AsomBroso Tequila introduces yet another first the “El Carbonzado Extra Anejo” double barrel rested five years in New French Oak and one year in Irish Whiskey barrels
2014
AsomBroso Tequila introduces the highest rated tequila “The Collaboration Extra Anejo” double barrel rested eleven years in New French Oak and one year in Silver Oak barrels rated 97.
2015
AsomBroso follows up with the launch of the Rouge Extra Anejo, a ten year rested Grand Marnier single-barrel, the only single barrel of Grand Marnier rested tequila offerings of the time.
2016
AsomBroso introduces a Limited edition triple barrel rested Cristalino rested in New French, American and Hungarian Oak barrels.
2017
Master Distiller Ricardo Gamarra begins producing AsomBroso Tequila 100% on his own at Tequila Selecto de Amatitan, S.A. de C.V.
2024
AsomBroso moves production to Destiladora de Agave Azul, S.A. de C.V. and the first co-creation from Master Distiller Zandra Gomez and Master Barrel Blender Ricardo Gamarra the certified Additive-Free Silver wins Double Gold and Top Tequila at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. – Over the course of 2024 all AsomBroso products are certified Additive-Free.
